London-headquartered sustainability consultancy ERM has announced the acquisition of Adelaide sister companies The Big Middle and The Big Zero.

Established in 2022 by co-founder of the now Accenture-owned Oracle partner PrimeQ Andrew McAdams, the The Big Middle is a Salesforce, Oracle and WalkMe partner that provides consulting and advisory, implementation and support services to mid-market customers.

ERM said The Big Middle will "continue as one of Australia’s leading technology service providers focused on systems integration of enterprise solutions."

Its sister company The Big Zero was also founded in 2022 and helps businesses achieve net zero and ESG goals, offering services covering implementation, managed services, Salesforce Net Zero, Scope 1, 2 and 3 reporting and disclosures, and carbon accounting.

The firm also offers sustainability reporting and accounting solutions bigWizard, smartDataHub and smartMonitor.

“We are pleased to join ERM and bring our expertise to a company with tremendous purpose. We look forward to extending our technology capabilities to a broader market while continuing the focus on sustainability,” said Andrew McAdams, CEO of The Big Middle and The Big Zero.

ERM said the acquisitions will allow the company to add systems integration and ESG accounting systems expertise to its services.

“Combining ERM’s decarbonisation strategy development and delivery expertise with The Big Zero and The Big Middle’s wealth of system implementation experience, we can further support organisations in delivering comprehensive plans that will help them to drive their sustainability goals at scale,” said Matthew Klein, global corporate sustainability and climate change co-head at ERM.

With over 8,000 employees in 40 countries, ERM helps businesses integrate sustainability into their strategy and operations with services covering capital project delivery, low carbon economy transition, M&A and sustainability compliance.

“Through the acquisition of The Big Zero, we can enable clients to better track and integrate environmental data seamlessly into their organisation, encompassing Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions, energy usage, as well as waste and water management from various sources,” said Thomas Achhorner, global head of digital products and data analytics at ERM.
