Private equity backed efex has acquired Wyscom, a Canberra-based managed services firm, marking its 15th takeover to expand business across 22 Australian metro and regional hubs.

The move represents efex's first acquisition in the ACT and its first international acquisition with Wyscom's operations in New Zealand.

Wyscom brings 25 employees and almost 150 clients across Canberra, Queensland, Victoria, and New Zealand to efex's portfolio.

The acquisition significantly expands efex's footprint in Australia, particularly in the government and public sectors.

It also deepens efex's capabilities in cyber security, aligning with its strategy to target key verticals of Professional Services, Education, Healthcare, and Mining & Remote Services.

"Joining forces with efex is an exciting opportunity for Wyscom," Lisa Johnston, one of Wyscom's founders, said.

"With efex's national reach, as well as its commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as AI and being the first MSP in Australia to utilise Salesforce's service and data cloud, our clients will benefit from enhanced solutions and support," Johnstone added.

The acquisition strengthens efex's position as the largest mid-market provider of managed services in Australia, with a workforce of almost 350 experts serving over 7,500 clients.

"The acquisition of Wyscom is a critical step in our expansion strategy," the chief executive of efex, Nick Sheehan, said.

"It enhances our capabilities in key verticals and geographies, allowing us to tap into the Canberra market—a crucial hub for government and education services," he added.

"Moreover, this move deepens our expertise in cyber security and aligns with our ongoing strategy of reaching 50 locations over the next two years, with further acquisitions in Perth and Sydney planned before Christmas," Sheehand said.

"Our growth strategy remains focused on targeted acquisitions that expand our footprint and strengthen our service offerings across key industries," Sheehan added.

Wyscom will continue to operate under its established brand in Canberra, with Lisa and Hayden Johnston remaining in leadership roles to ensure a smooth transition.

efex bought Worldmark Corporate Consulting, it's sixth takeover in Victoria, in September this year.
