Efex has acquired Crowd IT, a Melbourne-based managed IT services provider with specialist expertise in healthcare and radiology environments.

Founded in 2020 by Chris Germon, Crowd IT has served as a technology partner for healthcare organisations across Victoria, supporting complex clinical environments, including medical imaging systems, clinical applications and healthcare specific infrastructure.

The acquisition builds on efex’s growing healthcare capability, which already includes Medihost Solutions and Priority 1 IT.

As part of the acquisition, Germon will lead efex’s healthcare division nationally, helping ensure the specialist support Crowd IT clients value continues while benefiting from the additional scale, resources and capability of the broader efex business.

Efex CEO Nick Sheehan said the acquisition reflects the company’s continued focus on building deeper capability in sectors where specialist expertise delivers the greatest value to customers.

“Healthcare is a sector where specialist IT expertise can have a direct impact on operational outcomes," he said.

"Chris and the Crowd IT team bring deep experience in the clinical systems, workflows and environments that healthcare providers rely on every day. By bringing that expertise into efex, we are strengthening our ability to support healthcare organisations with both specialist knowledge and the scale of a national provider.”

Germon said joining efex creates new opportunities for both clients and the broader healthcare team.

“Crowd IT has always focused on delivering specialist technology support that reflects the realities of healthcare environments," he said.

"Joining efex means we can continue that same approach with greater backing, broader capability and more opportunity to support healthcare providers as their needs evolve. It is an exciting next step for our team and for the clients we support.”

For existing Crowd IT clients, the transition will be business as usual, with the same team, the same service channels and the same commitment to responsive support. Over time, clients will also gain access to efex’s broader capabilities across cyber security, cloud and infrastructure, communications, modern workplace solutions and AI-enabled services.

Earlier this year, efex acquired Compusult, a Shepparton based MSP servicing organisations across regional Victoria, and last year, bought Datcom, a mid-market managed cyber security service provider.

In 2025, efex was acquired by Australian private equity firm Advent Partners.
