Wavelink has been appointed the Australian and New Zealand distributor for Acromove, a company specialising in portable edge-cloud infrastructure and private 5G.

The partnership will bring Acromove’s portable edge-cloud units to the channel, aiming to enable organisations to run AI inference and mission-critical workloads closer to the point of action.

The Acromove units can be operational in as little as a quarter of an hour, and cost about one-third the price of traditional rack-based edge deployments, while helping reduce ongoing operational expenditure by minimising cloud data transfer and remote site servicing, the company claims.

The overall idea is to bring compute closer to where data is generated, Acromove said, reducing the need to backhaul large data volumes to centralised data centres or public cloud services.

The company’s platform also aims to help in situations where there’s limited secure connectivity by providing private 5G for devices like cameras, drones and mobile endpoints.

In ANZ, the partnership will focus on customers and partners supporting critical infrastructure, utilities, resources, industrial operations, emergency response, field services and remote facilities.

Under the agreement, Wavelink will build a partner network, as well as provide pre-and-post sales support for Acromove. Wavelink will also deliver partner education and go-to-market activities intended to build understanding of edge-cloud and private 5G uses in the local market.

“We see portable edge-cloud as a new category, and our strategy is to scale through a strong partner ecosystem that can package complete solutions for customers," said George Katiniotis, Acromove’s chief executive.

"With ANZ’s vast distances and remote operations, it’s the ideal environment for this market shift."

“Wavelink is building an ecosystem of technologies designed to support environments where resilience, security and operational continuity are non-negotiable,” said Wavelink COO Nick Touzeau.

“Acromove adds a highly differentiated edge-cloud capability to our portfolio, giving partners a practical way to bring compute, connectivity and AI inference closer to the field, with a plug-and-play model that reduces complexity and speeds up deployment.”
