Dovetail signs TalariaX

Dovetail Distribution has struck an exclusive Australian distribution agreement with TalariaX, a Singapore-based developer of SendQuick Alert, an SMS gateway appliance targeting medium to large enterprises.

Simply, the SMS server converts email “alert” messages from a company’s system monitoring and security infrastructure and converts these messages to SMS, alerting IT managers of system problems.

The system is designed to work with a firewall, IDS/IDP, anti-virus and server monitoring software.
TalariaX was founded three and a half years ago and had already established distribution partnerships in other Asian countries such as Thailand and Malaysia.

Over the past two years, it had sold over 100 units, said Wong Jeat Shyan, CEO and co-founder of TalariaX.

The system would send an SMS message to any type of mobile phone and multiple people around the world could receive message at one time, he said. Only one appliance would be required for an entire company’s IT infrastructure, he claimed.

Max Fredericks, general manager at Dovetail, said the server was a compliment to the distributors existing security offerings. “At the same time we believe the growing use of SMS and MMS as marketing tools gives SendQuick a great opportunity in organisations that are using these services. The return on investment model is compelling,” he said.

Dovetail also distributes for Sonicwall, Zone Labs and Secure Computing.

Dealers could buy the appliance for $2197 (dealer price, ex GST) and sell to the end user for around $3200 (incl. tax) presenting a good margin opportunity, Fredericks said.
