Dimension Data offers private Microsoft cloud

Dimension Data has pulled back the curtains on its managed private cloud environment. At present, the products on offer are exclusively Microsoft-based, including Sharepoint, Exchange Server, and Lync.

“Dimension Data has more than 10 years of experience deploying on-premise Exchange, SharePoint and Lync solutions for clients in Australia and has migrated more than one million end users to public cloud business productivity solutions,” said Brian Walshe, general manager for Microsoft Solutions Infrastructure, Dimension Data Australia, in a statement.

The managed private cloud offering is delivered as a single-tenant solution either in Dimension Data’s datacentres, or on-premise for customers wanting extra control and data sovereignty assurance.

“As more and more organisations embrace the cloud, Microsoft’s approach is to help our customers move to the cloud on their terms. We understand that our customers want to optimise their existing investments while leveraging the benefits of the cloud, whether that be public, private or a hybrid approach,” said Dean Swan, partner business director, Microsoft Australia, in a statement.

“Enterprises and government organisations will benefit from cloud services such as Dimension Data’s hosted productivity solutions. As one of our most innovative alliances, Dimension Data has the depth of experience to offer clients flexible cloud solutions based on Microsoft technologies that best meet their organisational needs,” he said.

Dimension Data said customer numbers are not yet available, due to the cloud offering being a new service.

The announcement follows Dimension Data’s tiered cloud storage offerings, unveiled in May, which are based on EMC’s VNX storage platform.
