Dimension Data has increased its global footprint by launching four new data centres, one of which is based in Australia.
General manager David Hanrahan told CRN the fourth data centre is NextDC's M1 located in Melbourne.
The $8.5 billion company has also signed co-location deals with data centre operators located in the UK, the US and Brazil, giving it a presence in 11 data centres globally.
Hanrahan said the expansion was driven by a surge in demand. "Australian organisations are continuing to take up cloud services at an ever-increasing rate. The continued investment in the growth of our global cloud footprint is expected to further accelerate the take-up of cloud by local organisations."
It follows news broken by CRN earlier this week that Melbourne reseller Rock IT had scored an exclusive place on DiData's OneCloud program.
The new Melbouren data centre will allow OneCloud partners to deliver an improved experience, Hanrahan said.
"OneCloud channel partners will be able to provide services to their clients that leverage the expanded platform giving them access to cloud services delivered from a second local data centre and from the other managed cloud platforms around the globe."

Dimension Data's managed cloud platform has already commenced rolling out and all four locations should be completed by January 2014. The company will have a presence in:
- Virginia, US – currently available
- Melbourne, Australia – December 2013
- London, UK – January 2014
- Sao Paulo, Brazil – January 2014
Dimension Data is a subsidiary of $122 billion telecommunications behemoth NTT Group. Recently its sister company, NTT communications made two acquisitions costing $922 million and merged its three local entities to form NTT Com ICT Solutions in Australia, all within the last month.
