Dimension Data Australia CEO Rodd Cunico departs

Dimension Data Australia has announced chief executive Rodd Cunico is departing the company on 30 September.

Steve Nola, who was Cunico's predecessor as country head, will return to the position on 1 October. Nola currently has a global role as Dimension Data's IT-as-a-service group executive.

The changeover coincides with Dimension Data Australia's financial year end.

Cunico (pictured) had been with the company for 19 years, ascending to Australia chief executive in 2011 to replace Nola, who was promoted to the global position.

Dimension Data Australia announced that both Cunico and Nola would meet with staff, partners and customers over the next six weeks, while declining to provide any further information.

Cunico and Nola were unavailable for comment.

Dimension Data, both globally and locally, has seen significant leadership changes this year. Global chief executive Brett Dawson stepped down in June after 12 years in the role. The Australian arm saw data centre head Peter Prowse and end-user lead Brian Walshe depart, with Nathan Vandenberg and Ed Phillips stepping in.

In August last year, Dimension Data's parent company NTT Communications put its solution provider brand on notice for underperformance. In November, Dimension Data was again admonished, with NTT chief executive Hiroo Unoura saying "frank" discussions had been held with an unnamed "top executive of Dimension Data" about generating a profit.

According to the most recent reported results, Dimension Data's Australian arm recorded a net loss of $20.1 million for the year ending 30 September 2014.

DiData was established in South Africa in 1983 and now operates in more than 50 countries. In 2010, the company became a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Group.

Cunico, before joining Dimension Data Australia in 1997, served 11 years at Telstra.
