Data centre operator Digital Realty has bought a 7500-square-metre data centre in the heart of Sydney's North Ryde business precinct.
The $11.75 million data centre, which is located at 23-25 Waterloo Road, Macquarie Park, offers 4830 square metres of total net lettable area. It has been fully leased by Fujitsu Australia on a long-term basis.
The facility, previously owned by Exodus Corporation, features 750mm raised floors and HVAC temperature control systems with separate cooling zones.
Kris Kumar, Digital Realty's senior vice president and regional head Asia Pacific, said the new facility had been instrumental in securing the business of a "new global, blue-chip tenant", although he did not name Fujitsu.
"The addition of this institutional quality data centre facility to our portfolio expands our footprint in the Sydney market, and adds a new global, blue-chip tenant to our customer base,” Kumar stated.
“This acquisition is one more step in our Australian expansion plans, demonstrating our commitment to this important Asia Pacific market.”
Digital Realty recently completed the fit-out of a Melbourne-based data centre for NAB. A second adjoining data centre is also planned in August or September 2013.
Fujitsu provides a range of data centre services in Australia, including dedicated hosting and collocation services, operations support, web-hosting, data recovery and broadband Internet services.
Its major Australian data centres are located in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and WA.
Fujitsu built a new facility in the Western suburbs of Sydney in 2011, for which Westpac was an anchor tenant, plus a new facility in Malaga, Perth, with Bankwest an anchor tenant.
