DiData wins SA govt contract

Dimension Data has won a $40 million contract to provide managed network services to the South Australian government, replacing incumbent EDS.

The contract is part of SA Government’s Future ICT procurement program and was put to tender this time last year.

Over a three year period, Di Data would manage SA’s network services contract, monitoring, break/fix services, administration and support for its network and firewall infrastructure.

It would also rollout basic services, combined with network services, to around 200 metropolitan and regional government agencies.

Other services included intrusion detection and prevention, network and security consulting and advisory services, threat analysis and response and vulnerability assessments.

Steve Nola, CEO at Dimension Data said the company won the process, because of a strong presence with the SA Govt.

It was looking for an organisation to outsource its networking and security and Di Data had the expertise in the area, said Nola.

“Dimension Data’s global services centre, will provide the centralised support for the network.

SA Govt's network structure is based on IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) principles, and this contract is written with ITIL terms, aligning the SA’s service expectations with the services delivered by us,” he said.

According to Nola, for the past ten years, EDS was responsible for the SA Government’s network services.

At this stage EDS couldn’t be contacted to state why it no longer looked after these services.
