Dicker Data has revealed a new partnership with all-flash data storage vendor Pure Storage, which will give Dicker access to the vendor's entire portfolio.
Pure Storage told CRN that Dicker – as one of Cisco's largest distributors in Australia – made the decision a "no-brainer". During Cisco Live Melbourne in March, Pure Storage announced enhancements to FlashStack, a converged infrastructure solution from Cisco and Pure Storage.
Dino Soepono, Pure Storage director of channels and alliances in Asia-Pacific and Japan, said: "When we went on the hunt for a new distributor to support the growing demand for our innovative data platform in Australia, Dicker Data was a no-brainer.
"The company’s strategic partnership with Cisco made it very attractive to us, not to mention its extensive network of partners.
"Our new partnership with Dicker Data will allow us to scale quicker and meet the growing demand we’re seeing in Australia for FlashStack, our joint converged infrastructure solution with Cisco. In essence, this is what does, and will continue to set us apart.
Pure Storage expects the partnership with Dicker Data will accelerate the adoption of FlashStack.
"Dicker Data is a standout distributor with extensive experience and an excellent reputation across Australia," Soepono added.
Dicker Data joins Arrow ECS as Pure Storage second distributor in Australia. Arrow ECS landed the partnership through the acquisition of Distribution Central in March 2016. Distribution Central was signed as Pure Storage distributor in February 2015.
Dicker Data chairman and chief executive David Dicker said: "The alliance between Cisco and Pure Storage is one of the key drivers behind this move as we look to proactively position their products into our extensive Cisco partner base. This strategy will assist us to scale quickly and gain access to incremental revenue that we may not have otherwise captured."
Mike Sakalas, Pure Storage ANZ regional vice president, said: "We will continue to invest in quality relationships with our distributors and technology partners in order to scale and deliver the experience and performance our customers deserve."
In November 2015, Dicker Data signed its first flash storage deal with Nimble Storage. Nimble has since been acquired by one of Dicker's flagship vendors, Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
Last week, Dicker got access to Dell EMC's full storage range, extending its long-lasting partnership with Dell, which came about through the acquisition of Express Data in 2014.
Dicker Data posted $1.18 billion revenue in the full-year to 31 December 2016, making it the third-largest distributor after Ingram Micro and Synnex. Dicker generated $36.6 million in profit.
