Deloitte brings rapid Salesforce service to Australia

Deloitte Digital has brought its Salesforce Global Assets and Solutions group to Australia.

The group works with assets the consultancy has built when working on Salesforce engagements around the world, and uses the already-proven tools to speed projects.

“It allows users to more easily access global IP and accelerators that are very sector-specific,” lead partner of Deloitte Digital Australia Steve Hallam told CRN. “We’re using global IP to deliver projects in the local market more efficiently.”

The IP is delivered as “accelerators” – code and best practices to speed implementation – or full packages of the sort an ISV working on the Salesforce platform would offer.

The firm will first focus on assets for on healthcare, banking and government users, but also has experience in the resources and telecoms sectors it feels could be applicable in Australia.

Deloitte Digital Australia already has 200 people working on Salesforce and national Salesforce leader Claire Gillies said that while new hires aren’t planned for the first year of the new effort, she is “Already working with our industry teams who have salesforce experience in their sectors.”

Gillies added that local government will be a special focus. “We have had conversations with local councils to help them digitise the citizen experience,” she said.

Both Gillies and Hallam said Deloitte hopes to both find greenfield customers, but also feel it will be possible to approach existing Salesforce users and work with them to extend their current use of the platform.

“Clients that have already implemented Salesforce have a really good base to further mature the experience,” Gillies said.

That puts Deloitte into competition with other Salesforce partners that may have done initial work for a customer. Deloitte doesn’t mind that, but Gillies pointed out the company’s play is strictly about consultancy, not reselling. And she added that it’s possible the firm’s practice will mature to permit deals in which it teams with other Salesforce partners.
