Michael Dell has promised his firm is working on a "wave of tablets" - but it's unclear if any of those will run Windows RT.
Dell recently took the firm bearing his name private, as it looks to restructure its business in the face of sliding PC sales.
Dell said he doesn't think PCs are on the way out - we simply have more options, comparing it to transportation, where we might sometimes walk, cycle or drive.
You’ll see another significant wave of tablets from us in the coming weeks
"Just because I ride a bicycle doesn't mean I also don’t sometimes need an airplane," he said in an interview with All Things Digital. "Computing shows up in many different ways. You have computing that you wear, computing that you carry. What you think of as the traditional PC market has a long tail of usage, particularly in the commercial world, but also in consumer."
"You’ll see another significant wave of tablets from us in the coming weeks," he added.
Dell is widely expected to reboot its "Venue" brand at an event on 2 October, including a new Windows 8.1 tablet, according to The Verge.
Dell recently pulled the Windows RT XPS 10 from its US website - though it's still listed for sale in the UK - prompting speculation that the manufacturer was following its rival OEMs in dropping the Windows-on-ARM OS. However, the company hasn't said either way whether it will release a second-generation of the Windows RT device.
If the speculation is correct and Dell does kill off the XPS 10, that will leave Microsoft as the only manufacturer still making tablets running Windows RT, with the newly announced Surface 2.
