Dell EMC’s Australia-based chief technology officer (CTO) for the Asia-Pacific and Japan , Matthew Oostveen , has departed the company.
Oostveen took to LinkedIn to reveal that he left the company last Friday.
The split seems not to be acrimonious: Oostveen wrote that “5 years ago, I was offered a role at a plucky young joint venture called VCE as the APJ CTO. I knew immediately it was a once-in-a-lifetime offer. As they say, if someone offers you a seat on a rocketship, you don't ask which seat, you just get on.”
“I've been fortunate enough to be offered another seat on a rocketship, so it's time to buckle-up once more for another ride.”
Oostveen pointed out that VCE was a startup, albeit a very well-funded one given its DNA drew from EMC, Cisco and VMware, and that it was acquired by EMC and then Dell.
His farewell post didn’t quite join the dots to suggest the company has become a bit dull, but the fact he’s found another “rocketship” suggests he’s after something more exciting.
Oostveen’s departure will be felt inasmuch as Australia is home to few regional CTOs, and even fewer for companies of Dell EMC’s stature.
