Datacom has been with awarded a $5 million cloud migration contract with the Australian government's Tax Practitioners Board.
The independent body partnered with Datacom to transition its data centre infrastructure to “a cloud-based solution”. The ATO did not provide more detail into the solution.
The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) is a national body responsible for the registration and regulation of tax agents, BAS agents and tax (financial) advisers.
The service provider will provide ongoing support services for three years starting July 2019, and will also assist the TPB to adopt ITIL-compliant service management processes.
“This transition will stem increasing costs and deliver greater resilience and flexibility for the TPB’s future needs,” a TPB spokesperson told CRN.
“The result will be quality IT solutions for TPB staff and users of their services.”
The spokesperson added the TPB received three proposals through the Australian Government’s Digital Marketplace procurement panel, including Datacom.
“Following the competitive selection, Datacom were determined to provide the best value for money to the TPB, based on their capability, capacity and cost,” the spokesperson added.
Updated 7 May 10:42am: the contract was awarded by the Tax Practitioners Board, not the Australian Taxation Office, as previously indicated.
