Data#3 promotes new Queensland GM
Ray Merlano

Ray Merlano has been permanently appointed as Data#3's general manager for Queensland.

Data#3 released a statement today confirming the promotion, after Merlano acted in the state MD position upon founding director Mark Esler's retirement in March.

Merlano had previously been the major account group manager in Queensland. He has been with Data#3 for over 16 years, according to the reseller.

"From his previous roles with the business he is well connected locally to our customers," said Laurence Baynham, Data#3 group general manager. "His commitments as a Queensland AIIA Committee member and chair of the Queensland AIIA Government Engagement sub-committee offer a significant advantage to the business."

Merlano said that he's excited to take on the new role: "I look forward to leading the Queensland branch in a time of significant change for our industry as our customers’ transition to a Hybrid IT environment."

Publicly listed Data#3 has had a rollercoaster financial year. Managing director John Grant told CRN earlier this year that he was "very disappointed" in the first half results and that the company would miss the original second half year target. Last month Data#3 reported a "very strong" fourth quarter that would result in $4.9 million net profit for the second half year.
