ICT solutions provider Data#3 has opened the doors to its new Victorian headquarters which will make room for 35 additional local IT professionals.

The new headquarters will act as a leading-edge 'hub' for delivering Data#3’s technology solutions to Victorian customers.

Data#3's managing director John Grant said the new Southbank location would allow the company to provide better service to customers and technology partners.

"Our [new headquarters] brings us much closer to our key customers and partners which creates the opportunity to collaborate and work with them more regularly," Grant told CRN.

The facility was designed for a mobile, flexible workforce with secure high-speed wireless access throughout the building.

"It's a workgroup orientated environment with no offices," Grant said. "When our people need to work independently, they can do so anywhere [in the building]. It really changes the way our premises are used by people to do their business."

The building includes dedicated facilities for meeting, collaboration and video conferencing as well as a series of "quiet spaces".

While the facility does support a BYOD policy, Grant said the company endeavoured to provide the best hardware on the market to its employees.

"We're a technology company, so obviously we want our people using the best technologies because they're out with our customers and our partners every day."

According to Grant, the new HQ will be the first facility in Australia to roll out Microsoft's Windows 8 platform; something the company was "very proud about." He declined to provide further detail at the time of publication.

The expansion comes despite a lower-than-expected pre-tax profit for FY2012, which Data#3 blamed on difficult market conditions.

“Profit for the 2012 financial year was slightly below the exceptionally strong 2011 result, yet still above the long-term growth trend," Grant said at the time.
