Former N-Able regional sales manager James Bergl will lead the Australian expansion of data recovery solutions vendor Datto.
Bergl comes onboard as Datto's ANZ regional manager as the US-based vendor plans to establish a local presence with an office in Sydney.
His main role be hunting for an office location, building out Datto’s local team, hiring the sales and account management teams and developing a go-to-market strategy.
Datto plans to hire around 10 employees within its first 12 months, and another 10 the following year.
Bergl said around 15 resellers have signed on to sell Datto products upon launch. Datto is yet to announce a local distributor, but said it would deliver its cloud services through Equnix’s SY data centre in Alexandria.
“We’re a channel-only business, and that will carry over here,” said Bergl. “We’ve got a business that’s set up to enable partners to be as successful as possible. We provide sales and marketing material and actively help MSPs to sell services.”
Prior to joining Datto, Bergl spent nearly two years as APAC regional sales manager for SolarWinds' MSP management solutions business, N-Able Technologies. He was also account executive for N-Able’s African and Middle East operations.
Based in Connecticut, Datto provides backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions with operations in the US, UK, Canada, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
