Based in Sydney, the newly created role is a part of Avnet’s APAC expansion plans.
The new role will see Costigan responsible for the marketing activities of Avnet’s business units across the region. Costigan will also manage merger and acquisition activities and drive business innovation by taking vendors into new regions including Singapore, Malaysia, India, Hong Kong and China.
“We’re very keen to expand the business model throughout Asia,” he said. “I’ll be building the brand, building the awareness of Avnet and replicating programs in those geographies."
He told CRN that his first priority will be working with Avnet’s Indian team to build a solutions distribution business in the country.
Costigan joined Avnet in 2002 as marketing manager for Avnet’s IBM business unit and was soon promoted to marketing director for Australia. He said he was looking forward to the challenges of his new role.
“Championing the Avnet brand in the region, looking for new business opportunities for Avnet, it’s a different challenge, a different role which is great. It keeps you refreshed," he said.
Despite citing a tough labour market, Costigan said Avnet is currently interviewing to fill his position. Michael will report into KP Tang, President for Avnet Technology Solutions Asia.
