Following the recent termination of its proposed merger with Leading Solutions, ComputerCorp has posted a statement on ASX Limited announcing that subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions, the reseller will acquire Brisbane-based CoreTech.
“We’ve always had the goal of making acquisitions to bolster our business,” said Tony Heywood, eastern region director for ComputerCorp. “Queensland represents a big part of our consumer base and this agreement will see us grow our presence and strength in that market.”
Heywood told CRN that ComputerCorp would be merging its branch office with the four existing CoreTech offices. He added that CoreTech’s involvement in the education sector, including a contract with the Department of Education to supply 8000 notebooks to schools and an active member of the Education Queensland Preferred Supplier Arrangement, would strengthen ComputerCorp’s mid-market presence.
“CoreTech has a strong education presence and will allow us to build a mid-tier market. The major benefit is gaining strength in Queensland that we never had,” he said.
Referring to the failed acquisition of Leading Solutions, Heywood claimed the incident hasn’t hindered the reseller’s resolve to seek out similar deals.
“We will continue to make acquisitions and build our strength in ICT infrastructure,” he said. “As a management team we have learned a lot about what acquisitions make sense for us.”
