Industry association CompTIA has announced a best practice guide for Australian managed service providers, with a workbook offering insight into business practices.
The CompTIA Channel Standard for Managed IT Solutions Providers, available for free here, details business practice fundamentals in business generation, delivery and operations, customer relations, business management and business direction.
This complements the channel standards released earlier this year and is based on years of experience shared by industry professionals.
Moheb Moses, CompTIA ANZ community director and the co-founder of Sydney's Channel Dynamics, said: "What we have seen in the last 12 to 18 months and will continue to see is traditional VARs transitioning their business to managed service provider and there is a real challenge to do that. This standards helps VARs with that transition, and is a benchmark to MSPs."
Moses told CRN that the new guide can help to improve MSPs productivity and decrease costs.
CompTIA senior vice president, events and education Kelly Ricker said: "The standard provides a checklist of policies and practices that can help any managed IT solution provider raise the quality of the services they offer and the value they provide to their customers.
"We encourage MSPs to use our channel standards as a guide to help them conduct an honest, thoughtful evaluation of their business’s readiness to take advantage of new opportunities," said Ricker.
CompTIA will release additional standards focused on managed print services, cybersecurity, and cloud computing during 2016.
