The new deal will not be completed until the 13th of February but will see Empired take the WA assets for a net consideration of $30,000 in cash. Commander will continue to operate in some sectors of the WA market.
The new owners have said they will retain a large number of staff members from the enterprise ICT business. It is yet to be formally stated whether or not the other employees are set to lose their jobs or be provided additional work opportunities within Commander.
Empired will be taking over the business contracts and responsibilities for IT services as well as the supply of enterprise hardware and software licensing. Under the agreement the company will also purchase fixed assets such as the premises in Adelaide Terrace that has a capacity for an additional 40 staff.
Showing high hopes for the future, Empired is expecting an increase in annual revenue of $15 million. In an Australian Stock Exchange statement the company has said the acquisition will immediately add to the revenue of the business without impacting on the current share capital.
According to Russell Baskerville, Empired managing director, the acquisition presents a fantastic opportunity to both companies. “Empired will benefit from an expanded customer base, an increase in staffing levels and enjoy the revenue and profits associated with the contacts acquired.”
Commander announced on 30 of January that actions would be taken to turn the company around by exiting non-core business areas. On the 4 February the voice and data integrator sold Unitel , its wholesale network service business arm, to M2 Telecommunications for $10 million.
