Co-lo provider TechFlow lands software vendor Squiz

Sydney colocation provider TechFlow has secured a multi-year deal with Aussie digital solutions software vendor Squiz.

Techflow provided data centre space and racks in a Sydney facility to support Squiz, which needed a “high-density” footprint to accommodate its newly acquired technology.

Squiz, whose operations extend to North America and Europe, specialises in web content management, “digital experience” platforms and insights engines.

Squiz’s chief information officer Justin Higgins told CRN the new tech is a combination of new NVMe storage and servers running AMD EPYC processors, which allows the company to increase the density of its equipment while improving throughput and latency for customers.

The company said its colocation requirements were far exceeding the capacity of its previous data centre space at Global Switch. Squiz needed three times more power and better cooling capabilities to host infrastructure storing 1.2 petabytes of storage, running more than 1200 virtual servers and pushing “multiple gigabits” of mission-critical web traffic.

Higgins said Techflow has a history of taking the time to understand Squiz’s requirements and “going the extra mile” to get us the best equipment and services.

“They offered us the upgraded colocation we needed at very competitive rates,” Higgins told CRN. “Techflow are also able to provide structure cabling and installation assistance that reduced the time taken to deploy into this new space.”

Aside from data centre colocation, Techflow also worked with Squiz on finding and provisioing carriers. Higgins said Squiz settled on NTT and Cogent for transit and Megaport for data centre-to-data centre communications.

The solution implemented allowed for current and future high-density requirements, pre-terminated structured cabling for quick setup, and deployed fibre links to facilitate the migration.

“Our dedicated Techflow account manager was extremely confident he could obtain the best possible prices on hardware for us, even with very tight delivery deadlines,” Higgins added.

“TechFlow delivered network appliances into our UK data centre operations in just five days while maintaining the best available price.”

Squiz said apart from reduced operating costs, IT procurement, data centre access requests and cross-connect provisioning now have faster turnaround times. The operating environment is also more reliable and more efficient, and the business is now able to meet changing business demands on the fly when needed.

“The reliability and expertise that TechFlow provides as a dedicated data centre service provider has helped get us the right data centre solution to support our growing footprint, while meeting our SLA requirements.”
