Citadel Group has struck a partnership with Crime Stoppers Australia to roll out its vResponder application for Australian law enforcement.
The platform is a rebrand of Citadel's Keep Us Safe application announced back in April as the first application to take advantage of Microsoft Azure's accreditation to host highly sensitive 'protected' government data.
It leverages the Azure Australia Central cloud located in Canberra to allow the public to report crimes and suspicious behaviour from their smartphone through an application, and is capable of using a suite of AI and cognitive services tools to "digitally triage" information for decision makers to use in real-time.
Crime Stoppers will implement vResponder as part of its Safer Australia initiative, which aims to improve community safety and digitise the crime reporting process.
The original Keep Us Safe platform allowed users to contact emergency services to report details in a crisis or accident. Users can do this by capturing real-time video and audio within the app as well as location and other telemetry information, which other users can use.
"We are proud to be enabling the next generation of community safety through the vResponder platform which is capable of facilitating the reporting, and solving, of crimes not only in Australia but across the globe,” Citadel chief executive Darren Stanley said.
“It is our vision that by working closely with our partners like Crime Stoppers Australia and leveraging the power of AI and cognitive services we can assist the government to not only solve crime, but prevent it, and in doing so build a Safer Australia.”
Crime Stoppers is a global program operating in 25 countries that that encourages the public to report crimes they might witness.
