Cisco has confirmed that it has reached agreement to acquire home networking and management vendor Pure Networks for £60m.
With businesses tightening the purse strings, Cisco has stepped up its efforts to flesh out its consumer business.
Pure Networks will be melded into Cisco's consumer brand Linksys, with whom it currently partners on the Linksys Easy Link Advisor (LELA), a home network management system.
"Pure Networks' network-management innovations will provide Cisco and Linksys with a key underpinning to take home networking to the next level of ease of use," said Ned Hooper, senior vice president for Cisco's corporate development and consumer group, in a statement.
