Networking giant Cisco has added to its board of directors with the appointment of Brian Halla, chairman and chief executive officer of the National Semiconductor Corporation.
Halla joined National in May 1996 from LSI Logic Corporation where he was executive vice-president of LSI Logic Products.
John Chambers, chairman and chief executive officer of Cisco, said: "Brian brings a wealth of international experience and a broad perspective, which will be beneficial to our long-term growth strategy and global expansion."
With the election of Halla, Cisco's board now consists of 11 members, including: Carol Bartz, executive chairman of Autodesk; Michele Burns, chair and chief executive officer of Mercer Human Resource Consulting LLC; Michael Capellas, senior advisor of Silver Lake Partners, Larry Carter, senior vice-president of the Office of the President, Cisco Systems; John Chambers, chairman and chief executive officer of Cisco Systems; John Hennessy, president of Stanford University; Richard Kovacevich, chairman and chief executive officer of Wells Fargo & Company; Roderick McGeary, chairman of BearingPoint; Steven West, founder and partner of Emerging Company Partners; and Jerry Yang, director at Yahoo!
