Communications Design and Management (CDM) has been awarded a $4 million contract with the Department of Defence for site integration and project management services related to the Future Submarine Program.
The program, also known as SEA1000, is set to "deliver an affordable, regionally dominant, conventional submarine capability, sustainable into the foreseeable future," according to the department.
"Under the design and mobilisation contract, signed in September 2016 between DCNS and the Commonwealth, a resident project office for Australian staff based in France is being established," a department spokesperson told CRN.
DCNS is a French naval shipbuilding company.
Personnel from the Future Submarine Program will use the office. CDM will be responsible for completing the design, development, integration, installation and transition-into-service of the ICT installation for the resident project office.
CDM will be helped by sub-contractors Canberra-based services provider oobe, Melbourne-based audio and video provider Rutledge AV and Canberra-based phone systems provider Datavoice.
"The sub-contractors are assisting with the setup of the network infrastructure, video teleconferencing and telephony systems," the spokesperson told CRN.
The department said CDM was selected due to its "subject matter expertise" from previous involvement with Future Submarine Program ICT projects combined with the value for money proposal for the Commonwealth.
The contract was awarded to CDM under standing offer panel 2899972, which provides defence ICT infrastructure site integration and project management services. Other providers in this panel include DXC Technology, Fujitsu Australia, Hewlett-Packard and others.
