Communications Design and Management and Insight have taken home awards at CRN sibling publication IoThUB’s IoT Awards.
The prizes were awarded last week at the 2019 IoT Festival, an event recently acquired by CRN parent company nextmedia.
Sydney consultancy Communications Design and Management took out Channel IoT award for its work extracting data from heavy machinery.
The company did so by developing a solution that provides visibility of more than 100 heavy machinery inputs, does complex edge computing and delivers the data in a format that integrates with the global IT data platform. It also uses a store-and-forward approach so that machinery working underground, where connectivity to the surface, will send data to another vehicle that makes a connection once it returns above ground.
Insight was also pleased to that its work for Newcrest was recognised.
The resources giant and Insight worked on a “'Crushed Ore Bin” project that leveraged data science and Azure IoT technology to deploy a machine learning algorithm to predict the level of underground catchment bins.
The project caught judges’ eye as it overcame challenges of data collection in incredibly difficult physical conditions, and delivered impressive ROI.
Blue IoT’s Bob Sharon took home the IoT Pioneer Award, recognising his founding of his company and its development of the world’s first IoT virtual intelligent smart building management platform. The product can point to successes with multiple businesses and government organisations, with a standout success delivering major energy savings at Victoria’s City of Greater Dandenong.
