Gavin Gomes

Canon has hired former Australia Post general manager Gavin Gomes as director of its Business Services business.

In his new role, Gomes will be working with channel partners and customers in Canon’s B2B business, which includes office and professional print and managed services.

Business Services also includes Harbour IT, the solutions provider in which Canon bought a majority stake in 2014. Gomes will sit on Harbour IT’s board of directors.

“I’m looking forward to leading an integrated team in Canon Australia’s business services at this exciting time,” said Gomes.

"I am interested to find ways we can work with our channel partners to help streamline our customer’s business processes.”

Gomes has held numerous positions in the IT industry since 1989, starting as a contractor for IBM before moving to Proctor & Gamble as a national technology manager.

He joined Telstra in 2002 and held various sales and marketing positions, including director of sales and operations from 2008 to 2010. Most recently, Gomes was general manager of sales and marketing for Australia Post, responsible for the parcel service business.

Gomes replaces former Business Services director Craig Manson, who left the role in December after five years with Canon. According to LinkedIn, Manson is now a board director of SaaS provider Marketboomer.

Canon Business Services interim director David Klineberg will move across to Canon-owned information logistics company Converga in a new role as COO.
