Canberra's A23 promotes Natalie Legg to CEO

Canberra-based systems integrator A23 has named Natalie Legg as its new CEO.

She replaces Simon Metcalfe, who decided to step down to assume the role of chief growth officer. 

Metcalfe said he was delighted that someone with Legg's capabilities and commitment to A23 was succeeding him as CEO, and her perspectives as an indigenous woman were a significant asset to the company.

“Having a First Nations woman move into this role really represents something for the company, it’s about advancing opportunities," he said.

"This is an industry dominated by men, especially in senior leadership, that should change, and this reflects that. It is a chance to lead by example.” 

“Natalie is a strong leader and contributed to getting this company to where it is today, she is going to be laser focused on growth, operationally and culturally.”

A23 began as a start up by 11 friends and colleagues seven years ago, including Legg and Metcalfe.

It has since grown to a team of 60 that generates nearly $30 million a year in revenue and has several federal government clients.

The company is targeting 75 per cent growth over the next three years.

“At a macro level I want us to grow, to grow beyond Canberra with more private sector clients," Legg said.

"At a cultural level, I want to lead a company with clear communications and positive culture. And I hope we can continue to be an employer of choice, championing diversity with more women and diverse cultural backgrounds.”

“We are aiming for 25 per year year-on-year growth over the next three years."

"With Simon in his new role we want to expand further into Sydney and Brisbane; do more work outside of government and expand our offerings."
