Canberra MSP Digital61 sinks ASG at Australian Maritime Safety Authority

Canberra-based Digital61 has been awarded a $14.8 million contract by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) to provide managed ICT infrastructure services.

The contract covers supply and management of mid-range, end-user, storage and network hardware and software, with a focus on service management and integration across AMSA’s infrastructure, application and cloud platform vendors.

An AMSA spokesperson told CRN that Digital61 beat eight other suppliers for the contract, but did not reveal the names of the vanquished companies. The contract is new and replaces the service contract currently delivered by ASG Group.

“The Digital61 tender demonstrated excellent technical capabilities and represented the best value for money for AMSA,” the spokesperson said.

The contract was awarded on 31 May 2019, and runs until 18 August 2022.

The spokesperson added the contract includes a continuous improvement framework to proactively manage the ICT environment and ensure that it remains secure and up to date.

AMSA did not reveal specifics of the hardware and software to be supplied, but said it “retains the right” to purchase hardware and software outside of the contract.

Digital61 will also provide a tailored resourcing model that involves some dedicated on-site staff, along with access to subject matter experts. The spokesperson said the resource model is still being finalised.
