Sydney-based IT services provider Canary IT has named James Ormesher as its new chief executive officer, marking the end of a 26-year tenure for co-founder Stephen Parsonage.
Ormesher brings senior leadership experience from major technology firms, having most recently served as chief growth officer at Tesserent.
Prior to this, he Telstra Purple for over four years, serving as head of sales for technology services growth in his last position at the company.
Parsonage, who built the business alongside Bill Henderson since 1999, transitions to a newly created executive director role.
His focus shifts to leading mergers and acquisitions alongside strategic growth initiatives, with Canary IT having completed several acquisitions already in 2024, with more in the pipeline.
"After 26 years helping build Canary IT from the ground up, the time is right to hand the reins to a new leader," Parsonage said.
"James brings the fresh energy and vision we need to continue scaling the business while I shift my focus to growth through acquisition and strategic opportunities."
"I'm honoured to join Canary IT and build on the exceptional legacy created by Steve and Bill," Ormesher said.
"This is a business with a strong reputation, a talented team, and a clear opportunity to accelerate growth."
Canary IT was formed in 2022, as IT Consult bought Diversus Group and BCPRise, and formed the new entity.
In 2024, Canary IT announced the acquisition of Brisbane-based IT services company Wyntec.
