In May, CRN reported, Byte Power Group’s (BPG) had to delay its expansion plans following the earthquake, which devastated China.
There were fears the project would be halted but BPG has managed to rollout another 34 kiosks in the city of Chongqiang and secured 135 new kiosk sites.
Alvin Phua, director at BPG, said securing the Sha Pingba District, one of nine districts, further strengthens its aim to reach out to key areas of Chongqiang.
“Agreement has also been reached with Hechuan district local government for an additional 80 sites and Jiangjin district local government for a further 55 sites,” he said.
“Formal agreements have been signed with both districts and the additional sites are to be rolled out from November and throughout 2009.
“The Company is currently pursuing further financing arrangements to ensure continuing roll-out.”
BPG has targeted an additional 225 e-kiosks to be rolled out over the next eight months to June 2009.
“Projected annualised revenue from a total of 259 e-kiosk sites is expected to be $1.8 million, with a return on investment of two years” said Phua.
“This year has seen some unexpected delays in site approvals for the planned roll-out as government offices were overwhelmed in dealing with the earthquake in May.
“National focus was also taken over by the Beijing Olympics in August, which impacted on the granting of approvals during this period.”
Phua claimed with the events behind them, there is an increased focus by BPG and the local authorities to move ahead with the projects planned.
