Brisbane consultancy Inception Marketing is taking aim at the technology sector's gender gap with an International Women's Day luncheon focused on driving meaningful change.
The event, scheduled for March 7 at the Westin Brisbane, will feature a panel of women in IT sharing their experiences and practical solutions for workplace inclusion.
Women currently hold just 26 per cent of computer-related jobs and only 12 per cent of cybersecurity roles, despite making up approximately half the global workforce.
"The IT industry prides itself on innovation, yet diversity and inclusion remain areas where progress is desperately needed," Kayla Ellice, founder and managing director of Inception Marketing said.
"In an industry that thrives on progress, we see so many are left behind. This event is not just another discussion—it's about equipping IT businesses with practical steps they can take back to their organisations to make real, lasting change", Ellice said.
Attendees will be encouraged to make personal or organisational pledges outlining specific steps they will take to advance equality in 2025.
"There is no quick fix to bridging the gaps in our industry. But events like this are a critical first step," said Ellice.
The luncheon aligns with the UN's 2025 International Women's Day theme "March Forward".
Proceeds from the event will go towards academic scholarships for high-potential girls from disadvantaged backgrounds through the Harding Miller Education Foundation charity which provides these.
