Brennan helps 29-site Cura Day Hospitals Group move to Azure

Brennan has helped Cura Day Hospitals Group complete a “comprehensive” migration of its IT infrastructure to Azure.

Established in 2008, Cura has 29 facilities across most Australian states and territories. Its specialisations include such areas as gastroenterology, plastic and reconstructive, ear, nose and throat, obstetrics and orthopaedic.

Cura had aging infrastructure and growing workloads, according to a Brennan announcement about the project.

The hospital provider needed uninterrupted access to critical applications and services, and wanted to future-proof its IT infrastructure, and enable a “robust digital transformation”.

It worked with Brennan’s cloud specialists on an Azure migration facilitated by Brennan’s Azure Foundations solution. Azure Migrate was used to assess and optimise Cura’s workloads. This resulted in the migration of 107 virtual machines in eight weeks.

Brennan stated that the project wasn’t about “simply lifting and shifting workloads”.

It embedded additional controls into Cura’s Azure environment, “ensuring alignment with Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework pillars”.

Cura’s RDP servers were upgraded into scalable clusters, and plans were made to transition seven SQL servers into Azure SQL PaaS. This laid the groundwork for long-term operational efficiency and savings, according to Brennan.

“Brennan’s expertise and precision in migrating us to Azure ensures we can continue delivering seamless, exceptional care across Australia,” stated Cura Day Hospitals Group head of IT, Charl Ingram.
