Launched on Monday, BitDefender's Client Security package is a management and security solution designed for organisations with 20-1000 users.
Mihai Rusescu, APAC business unit manager for BitDefender, told CRN that the company is hoping to fill a space in the market left by other vendors who cut out features from their enterprise offerings in order to create products priced to appeal to smaller businesses.
“Other competitors are trying to downscale their large enterprise solutions towards the SMB market. We’re building solutions aimed specifically at this sort of market - small and medium businesses,” he said.
“We’re aiming for companies in need of simple and affordable solutions.”
According to BitDefender, Client Security is a completely scalable solution that features newly designed architecture such as image spam filters and NEUNET, which acts like a neural network to perform email spam analysis faster than heuristic scanning. The vendor claims that BitDefender products offer strong detection rates of up to 60 percent of viruses when using signatures that are three months out of date.
Mihai said that BitDefender will initially be looking to grow its reseller base under its existing distributors rather than appointing new distributors. He claimed that these resellers will be able to leverage installation and maintenance of the new products to increase their business opportunities.
“We offer them [resellers] opportunities to build new value in terms of consulting, implementation of the products and technical training for the user,” he said.
