Bakers Delight saves a lot of dough thanks to Okta reseller

Melbourne-headquartered Identity Solutions has helped Bakers Delight franchisees save up to $500,000 over nine months after switching to Okta's identity management solution.

Competition and consumer laws meant individual bakeries were unable to run important systems on-premises. The switch allowed Bakers Delight's 700 bakeries in Australia, New Zealand and Canada to access central systems for recipe updates, supplier's information and housekeeping matters, as well as the back end of point-of-sale and retail systems.

Deploying Okta has driven franchisees to order supplies online, which helped achieve the half-million dollar saving.

Identity Solutions director Victoria Krol told CRN: “Since the switch, Bakers Delight has achieved a 50 percent increase in services used by all franchisees.”

Franchisees accessing the Bakers Delight system more regularly has also led to a decrease in password resets.

Krol said the Okta system has helped the franchisor achieve a 10 percent reduction in service calls made to the company in recent months.

“To be successful and to grow their business, Bakers Delight needed to continuously improve their operations, ensure they can efficiently collaborate with the network of franchise operators and equip themselves and franchisees with right tools.

“Bakers Delight IT plays an important role in supporting the business. In late 2014, Bakers Delight IT began the selection process through an open tender for a modern, secure, user and device friendly solution that would provide and support franchisees seamless access to the Bakers Delight portal, applications and web resources,” added Krol.

The aim is to reduce calls to service desks by 50 percent, said CIO Joanne Stubbs.

"Without Okta, no franchisee would log on to the system alone, despite knowing the benefits and cost savings, and wouldn't have done it unless it was made easy," said Stubbs.
