The Australian government is seeking advice to understand the opportunities of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and how it can use the technology.
In a request for information published 9 November, the Australian Public Service (APS) invited proposals to develop a whole-of-government approach for adopting and integrating GenAI solutions.
This could include SaaS solutions, modular solutions targeted at particular functions of the public sector and offerings that can be integrated across agencies using existing foundation models and solutions.
APS suggested three areas where GenAI solutions have the potential to add significant value:
- Customer-facing functions – for example, using GenAI chatbots or concierge services to help users navigate complex information and services.
- Analytical or business intelligence functions – for example, using GenAI to process large numbers of submissions or consultation responses, assisting in distilling complex information from multiple sources.
- Core organisational and corporate functions – for example, using GenAI to develop tailored learning and development experiences and streamline complex or burdensome approval processes.
The request for information will close on 6 December 2023.
