Australian father and son team win Telstra Awards

ServiceM8 has been named the 2014 Telstra Northern Territory Business of the Year and winner of the 2014 Telstra Northern Territory Micro Business Award.

Created by father-son team Kim and Ben Ford, ServiceM8 is a cloud-based software-as-a-service application designed to help small businesses manage workflow. The SaaS provides real-time information on what jobs are currently active, what quotes have been issues to clients and where and when staff are at client sites.

ServiceM8 was released onto the market in July 2011 after the duo spent a year building the platform and is available on PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad.

In 2012, ServiceM8 launched its partner program, which today boasts 11 partners including Montage Software, Fippet Solutions and Gati Consulting. Partner levels are divided into four categories, with the top tier, Gold, offering partners exposure to over a 100 businesses and 30 percent of the job credits clients use each month.

According to Will Irving, Telstra business group managing director and ambassador for the Telstra Australian Business Awards, ServiceM8 won the awards because of their "very clear vision of business and a concrete understanding of customers' issues and how to solve them".

The performance of businesses that enter the awards are compared against core business indicators, which include business planning and performance, customer and financial management, HR, sales, marketing and product development.

ServiceM8's win at the Telstra NT Business awards is not its only claim to fame, having also won the 'In Field Services' category of the Australian Mobile Awards 2013 and making the finals in the Tabby Awards, a worldwide competition for tablet applications.
