Aussie disties launch Panasonic Toughbook 20

Panasonic this week launched the Toughbook 20, its new rugged detachable notebook that will be distributed by Multimedia Technology and Sektor in Australia.

"The Toughbook 20 presents solid growth prospects for channel partners in the areas of mobility and ruggedness, where Panasonic continues to be the leader and innovator," said John Hassall, chairman of MMT, which has distributed Panasonic for 20 years.

The rugged Toughbook 20 has six usage modes and a built-in handle for carrying or hanging on a wall.

The device comes with Windows 10 Pro and an option to downgrade to Windows 7. It is powered by Intel CoreTM vProTM sixth generation of processors, Intel HD Graphics 515, 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD.

The Toughbook 20 has a 10.1-inch, 10-finger capacitive multi-touch WUXGA screen (1920x1200 pixels), suitable for workers that operate touchscreens with gloves. It allows batteries to be switched while in use and has a 2-megapixel webcam and an 8MP rear camera.

"The Toughbook range of products and solutions complement Sektor's existing core expertise in the enterprise mobility and rugged computing space," said Sektor general manager Cameron Arnold. "We’re looking forward to continuing our channel engagement and supporting the end customer with these mobility innovations."

The Toughbook 20 will retail from RRP $5,399 and offers a set of business interfaces with customisable options.

According to Panasonic, the convertible device meets the MIL-STD-461F standard for electromagnetic interference and MIL-STD-810G for drop, shock, vibration, explosive atmosphere, temperature, humidity, rain and sand, as well as IP65 for waterproof and dustproof ingress.
