.Au Domain Administration CEO Chris Disspain has been appointed as a member of the advisory for the UN's upcomming United Nation’s Internet Governance Forum.
Disspain said the advisory group was formed to ensure the Internet Governance Forum’s inaugural meeting in Athens this October was effective.
“The internet works well at a technical level but there were many non-technical aspects of internet governance that would benefit from multi-stakeholder input at an international level," he said.
Chaired by Nitin Desai, the Secretary-General’s Special Advisor for the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), the advisory group holding its inaugural meeting this month in Geneva to discuss the agenda for and structure of the Athens meeting.
The Advisory Group numbers 46 and includes representatives of government, the private sector, academia, technical experts and civil society, Disspain said.
