The new generation of the Eee PC features Intel's Atom processor – one of the company's smallest processors built with one of the world’s smallest transistors.
Asus has equipped the 901 with its ‘Super Hybrid Engine’ technology, which the vendor claims will greatly prolong battery life. The PC also features Bluetooth and a pre-N wireless module for advanced mobile computing.
Finished in IMR for a sleek look, the 901 will be available in Pearl White and Shine Black. Asus claims the product has been designed to sustain hard bumps and shocks with its built-in Solid State Drive (SSD) technology. Designed for quiet operation, the Eee PC 901 also produces less heat than its predecessors and is energy saving for reliable and stable computing on-the-go, Asus claimed.
With the ‘Super Hybrid Engine’ technology users can also adjust CPU frequency, voltage and LCD brightness to minimise system noise and energy consumption to save up to 15 percent power, or chose to maximise performance according to individual needs.
The products come with a choice of Windows XP (12GB SSD) or Linux (20GB SSD) operating systems. Under the hood, the 901 features an 8.9 inch display screen with a maximum 1024 x 600 resolution. It also sports a 1.3M pixel webcam.
The Eee PC 901 will be available in Australia late June 2008 with a recommended retail price of $649 inc GST through computer resellers.
