PC maker Asus Australia has filed a lawsuit against former channel manager Marlene Gant over an equity dispute from her two-year tenure with the company.
First reported by current.com.au, the New South Wales Supreme Court will tomorrow hear directions on the civil case, which a Court spokesperson told CRN would likely involve a financial dispute or breach of contract.
Asus did not respond to request for comment by the time of publication.
The Court spokesperson said the case had been filed under mercantile law and the Court’s Equity division, ruling out defamation and similar disputes.
Gant’s stint at Asus as its retail channel manager across Australia and New Zealand ended in April 2011 when she left to join LG Electronics as general manager of key accounts for retail.
LG today told CRN Gant's position would be made redundant.
LG's head of retail Michael Doyle said the decision meant account managers could now bypass the middleman and get direct access to senior business leaders.
“We believe that moving faster than our competitors in responding to consumer needs will be a key advantage for LG in the future," he said in a statement to CRN. "This management change brings the senior managers of our business one step closer to our customer’s day to day feedback”.
Gant has held previous positions at Harvey Norman and Tech Pacific over the past 16 years.
