Astaro appoints A/NZ distributor

Dominic Whitehand, managing director of WhiteGold Solutions, said Astaro's reputation for strong channel support, commitment to partners and the fact that their appliances come in hardware, software or virtualised form was a contributing factor in its decision to partner with them.

He said security is going strongly in this challenging climate and the partnership won't encroach on its other players, just evolve what it is offering to the channel.

"One of the interesting things for us is the virtual and software appliances and also the New Zealand distribution relationship," said Whitehand.

"We are going to be expanding into New Zealand before the end of the year and will be introducing some online initiatives to the channel in the next few weeks.

"With the market as it is, we wanted to take advantage of the cloud and virtualised technology. It made sense to get a new vendor onboard to better serve that market."

Whitehand added with the proliferation of cloud services over the last 12 months, the Astaro VMWare virtual offering will be of interest to businesses looking for a SaaS approach to security.

Guy Coles VP for sales APJ Astaro (pictured), said its channel approach has boosted its penetration into the Australian and New Zealand market over the last two years.

"We are delighted to come onboard and we are looking at aggressive expansion plans for the region," said Coles.

"We wanted to go up a tier distribution wise and WhiteGold was a logical fit due to their experience and New Zealand coverage.

"It was a simple choice for us to look at teaming up with a major player in the security market.  It will be a successful and complete partnership."
