ASG Group has secured a contract with Victoria's Department of Justice and Regulation (DJR) to deploy a cloud hosting platform from Macquarie Telecom for the department’s selected applications.
The platform will feature "dial up" and "dial down" pricing, the ability to roll-on and roll-off applications as needs arise and access on a needs-only basis instead of an upfront payment.
Other features include network access from mobile to desktop and other platforms, pooling resources such as storage and bandwidth, and scalability.
“The Victorian Government is at the forefront of adopting the Federal Government’s security classification system and the ASG-DJR contract is a very early example of the transformation that will be possible and, indeed, demanded,” ASG chief operating officer Dean Langenbach said.
He added that the contract would deliver material efficiencies to the department while delivering security and performance.
The Department of Justice and Regulation operates in “one of the most sensitive areas” of the Victorian Government with the highest levels of security and governance base case requirements, according to ASG.
“It needs a technology platform that meets the most stringent conditions in terms of data sovereignty and protected environments,” the company said.
ASG will also help the department deliver on the Victorian Government’s policy of “cloud first” using infrastructure, platform and Software as a Service (SaaS) for both protected and unprotected applications.
Work on the platform commences in February 2018.
Last month, ASG landed a contract with Queensland utility Unitywater to migrate its IT activities to the Microsoft Azure public cloud, in a deal valued at $16.5 million for an initial term of five years.
