Aruba Networks has recruited a former CEO of Tennis Australia to head up its Asia-Pacific arm.
Steve Wood has been appointed senior vice president for Asia-Pacific, to work closely with Aruba's country managers. He was the head of Tennis Australia from 2005 to 2013, and most recently has been in advisory and investment roles in the start-up sector.
"Steve has an unrivalled track record of achievement, leading numerous successful technology companies and also Tennis Australia," said Aruba Networks global chief executive Dominic Orr.
"As a highly accomplished executive we're confident that his authentic leadership style, strong industry connections and ability to build high-performance, collaborative teams will lead Aruba Networks to further success in the region."
Wood was also ANZ president for Nortel from 2001 to 2005 and is credited with generating "more than $1 billion of investment into tennis infrastructure" during his time with the sport.
"I’m excited at the opportunity to head up the Asia-Pacific team," said Wood. "The increasingly mobile way in which the modern workforce operates provides Aruba Networks with significant growth opportunities in the region."
The new Asia-Pacific head will be based in Melbourne. In March, Hewlett-Packard revealed its intent to acquire Aruba Networks for about US$2.7 billion.
