Apple studies iPhone, iPad wireless charging

Apple is investigating wireless charging for its iDevice products, an unearthed patent has revealed.

The mobility giant has been granted a patent for an inductive charging system which shows a dock that can rest an iPhone or iPod Touch in to charge, minus a dock connector.

Inductive charging can work over a few metres with a reported 50 percent efficiency rate, Patently Apple reports.

The patent was one of 27 filed by Apple to the US Patent and Trademark Office last week.

It declined to comment on whether the technology will be included in its next-generation iPhone, expected for release
