Apple plots NFC shopping app

Apple has been granted a patent for an 'on-the-go' shopping list application using NFC on its iPhones.

The application allows users to build shopping lists and compare prices by tapping NFC tags, bar codes and product pictures.

It is the latest in a series of NFC-related patents filed by Apple,.

The patent differs from Google's similar Wallet offering in that it simply compares prices and creates a product list, compared to the Wallet's ability to close the sale.

Apple is yet to comment on whether the application will be included in its upcoming new iPhone, set for release in September.
