Apple devices make up third of mobile data load

Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch models may account for as much as 32 per ent of mobile data traffic worldwide.

A report from mobile advertising specialist Admob found that last month the Apple handsets accounted for nearly one third of its mobile data requests worldwide. That figure is up seven percent from last month.

The iPhone fared even better in smartphone web traffic, accounting for fifty percent of traffic.

Second to Apple on both lists was Nokia, which claimed 19.6 percent of data requests and 24 percent of smartphone web traffic. Samsung was third on the list, whole Research In Motion clocked in at the seventh spot.

Researchers noted that outside of the iPhone, Nokia maintained a strong position in the market. The company was responsible for 19.6 percent of data requests worldwide and in emerging markets such as India and Indonesia Nokia maintains a sizable lead over other smartphone vendors.
