Telecommunications service provider Anittel has received project sign off to begin the implementation and roll-out of the Tasmanian government’s new telecommunications system.
The deal could ultimately be worth $45 million to Anittel, on the proviso the three by three year extension options are taken up. As it stands, the five year contract has a minimum value of $7 million, with the initial value increasing to $17 million over the initial term as Telstra-provided spectrum end-points are replaced.
The new communications system is based on Cisco’s Hosted Collaboration Solution. During the testing phase, Anittel implemented 100 nodes at four endpoint sites. The first full-site implementation was completed last month at the Tasmanian Department of Justice’s Devonport Police Station.
“This project underpins our commitment to delivering collaboration and cloud based technologies to new and existing clients across Australia,” said Anittel managing director, Peter Kazacos, in a statement.
The company won the initial deal in August last year. The deal was the second time the company had beaten Telstra with its hosted Cisco offering.
At the time, Kazacos indicated the company would move some staffing and resources to Tasmania. However he declined to specify numbers, citing commercial factors.
